Ladders by Mario Soria

Jul 11, 2013 by     No Comments    Posted under: Paranoias

Recent paintings artwork by Mario Soria. “This new series of ladders is about icons from popular culture, my usual signature, which histories are close to me, they are part of me and belong to tv shows or movies I grew up. Marilyn’s’ eyes with some bi-color nail warms around her and her biography written all over the ladder, C3PO, no nailed ladder to join it and covered inside with gold leaf and, Spock, is as himself, a simple ladder but does he need more? The idea of this fusion “ladder-paintings” came out from another little serie that is painted on cardboards and framed on white, in fact, came from a particular painting: Sophia Loren Simpson, its frame has three legs and it was thought to be left on the floor or to lay on a chest or to hang on a wall. Inspiration is everywhere I just keep my eyes open so I thought it would be a nice idea to make from a ladder a new canvas for my artwork.”
