Jacques de Beaufort Paintings
Surrealism was the first thing that came to my mind when I recently look to the artwork of the American Jacques de Beaufort. Each unique painting brings me emotions and thoughts that makes me wonder for hours as they can be really intense if you let your mind go. “Psychopompos are spirits from the non-visible world that have the ability to cross between the barrier that separates us from the other. As a mediator between the conscious and unconscious realms, the psychopomp has the ability to restore psychic order and bring forth a deeper level of consciousness and clarity. I believe in a Shamanistic and Alchemical art that can act in this way. The painting is an intermediate agent negotiating the liminal space between the everyday and the Archetypal. One may look into the painting, but the painting looks back; a strange mirror of hidden desire and the churning other that lurks behind the veil. The forms in my work are foreign and familiar, Universal and particular. Painting can be a type of magic if we give it enough space and a little silence.” Beside his website, you can also follow his artwork at Tumblr with higher resolution images.
